Background

​

Over 50% of the population is under 25 years of age.  We have dreams and aspirations but there are not many jobs.  We get frustrated and wonder if anything will ever change.  Yet whilst we continue to sit and wait, we watch our country import billions of Kina worth of food.  This is ridiculous.  Our rural families should be producing our own food and exporting the surplus to the fastest growing region in the world located at our doorstep.  Agriculture can be the industry that builds our wealth, but we must do it differently, and we must have our young people drive the path forward.

 

AgFutures represents young people in agriculture and believe that by integrating technology to the sector we will inspire them to become agribusiness entrepreneurs.  Young people are ready to adopt new ways of doing things and technologies that will unlock the potential in agriculture, providing increased incomes and confidence to build a better life.

AgFutures is the brainchild of AgBook Agribusiness Training and Advisory Limited who have an agreement in place to provide management services to AgFutures, including facilitating strategic direction of the Association, providing secretariat support, financial management and communications between members.  AgFutures uses technology platforms to enable communications and the sharing of ideas and strategy development.

Regular meetings, including the annual general meeting, will be held online and as funds become available, we will move towards an annual networking event for the membership.

In our community, we provide a platform for like-minded youth to come together and exchange ideas, knowledge, and experiences. Through interactive workshops, mentorship programs, and networking events, we create opportunities for individuals to learn and grow in their agribusiness journey. Our focus is on practical learning, giving our members the chance to get their hands dirty and gain firsthand experience in various aspects of agriculture and entrepreneurship.
